Hello Readers,
Occasionally, I do write serious stuff. I recently discovered that I can have a chatbot in Firefox, and I thought I would check it out. I checked out ChatGPT about a year ago, but I wasn’t really impressed, at least with the free side of it.
You get the choice of five of them, and I started with Google Gemini. I don’t ever use AI for writing, but I do really enjoy making AI images. Whether you like it or not, AI is here and it’s not going away any time soon. I figured that I may as well embrace it and utilize it how I can. I do like the idea of having an assistant.
In any case, I wanted to think of something that would be a good test of its knowledge. I simply asked, “Why does the full moon have such an affect on people?”
I was honestly not prepared for its answer.
I almost laughed. I know there has to be a scientific explanation for the obvious effects that we witness during full moons.
I decided to do a normal Google search with the same question, and one of the first articles to pop up seemed promising.
https://www.healthline.com/health/full-moon-effects
It promised research, and it did deliver some studies of which I always take with a grain of salt. It still didn’t have any scientific proof.
Now, I’m going to throw a curve ball at you. About nine years ago, I was watching Johnny Carson on PBS, and someone had sent in a telegram that he read. It explained that the Moon reflects upwards of 5% of the Sun’s rays back onto Earth, and that that is enough to upset our Circadian rhythm.
At the time, I thought that it was a good theory. However, now that I know what I know about regilith, and that it’s basically tiny shards of glass, it totally makes that theory make sense.
I know there’s a theory about it’s gravitational pull, but that is constant no matter what phase it’s showing. We would only feel a difference in that effect when it gets closer or further in its orbit, and if anything, making us slightly lighter would be enjoyable.
I will admit, though, that I know that the placebo effect does have a factor in how much it affects us. I like science, but I’m learning that spirituality is just as valid, if not more so.
Anyphase, what do you think about the full moon? Do you have a theory?
Thank you so much for reading. Please consider recommending my substack. I hope you imagine having a wonderful day….[[|:-)
My mum has trouble sleeping during a full moon :)
I feel like, since it does affect tides, it does intuitively feel like it could be doing something to us, especially as we are 80 percent water, hehe:)
